Designing a system that is open and can communicate with other technologies is one of the most important factors when choosing a technology platform on which to work. This is why at Linear Blue, we have chosen FileMaker Pro and MySQL as the main technology platforms upon which to develop our systems.

FileMaker Pro as your choice for a desktop platform gives you excellent open connectivity. With standard export options such as csv and tab delimited for generic export; Merge format for Microsoft Word mail merges; the ability to export data as an HTML table or save directly as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. In addition, FileMaker is fully XML compliant and can import or export data through XSLT style sheets for data manipulation.

Using FileMaker Pro as a Hub

When it comes to communicating with industry standard databases, FileMaker pro supports the Open Database Connectivity Standard (ODBC), through the Structured Query Language (SQL) and External SQL Data Sources (ESS).

In addition, there are many 3rd party tools to help integrate FileMaker with off-the-shelf software, such as Sage Accounts.
